And it was in that it meant hiking more than 11 miles and 4 trails in different areas of South Cumberland State Park–Stone Door and Savage Gulf–and my muscles are feeling it. But, there were some spectacular views and beautiful falls and peaceful hiking beneath the numerous hemlocks . . . lots of Lady’s Slippers and azaleas and violets . . . hawks gliding on the currents in Laurel Gulf . . . yes, an outstanding day.
Another eleven parks to hike. I’d write more, but I’m tired and grouchy and impatient because I was in Savannah this morning and now it’s the end of the day and we’ve driven the six hours to Tennessee and hiked more than six miles in a couple of different locations. Tomorrow should be better . . . but here’s a few photos:
